Can you use the Service module in Attain to plan sales order drops and installation in any way?
Yes (obviously the suitability will depend on your specific needs). In the Item Card there is a new field, Service Item Group. In the Service Item Group record, there is a flag Create Service Item. If the Item has a Service Item Group assigned which has the Create Service Item flag set to TRUE, then a Service Item record will be created automatically when you ship or invoice that item. You should be able to track the rest of the behavior down through the Help files and some experimentation with CRONUS. Good luck. What is a sales order drop? Is it a delivery of an item that has been ordered by a customer? If that is the case, I’m not so sure it would be a good idea to post the order showing delivery before the goods had actually been shipped. I think that the functionality of the Service module would be useful, but perhaps a little customization is in order. Dave’s suggestion might be an easy “make-do” solution.
