Hi everyone,
We’re evaluating payroll options for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and would like to hear what others are using.
A few questions:
- Are you using Microsoft’s native capabilities or a third-party payroll solution?
- How do you handle employee self-service, payslips, leave requests, and loan management?
- What has been your experience with payroll compliance and country-specific regulations?
- Do you prefer a payroll solution fully embedded in D365 F&O or an external system integrated with it?
We’re looking for a solution that minimizes duplicate data entry and keeps HR, payroll, and finance processes connected.
Would appreciate hearing about your experiences and recommendations.
Thanks!
Greetings.

Are you using Microsoft’s native capabilities or a third-party payroll solution?
We are supporting an on-premises client using a third-party solution: Loki Advanced Payroll.
Unfortunately, the company that acquired Loki Systems decided to drop that product, and we would be interested in an alternative for them going forward.

How do you handle employee self-service, payslips, leave requests, and loan management?
Employee self-service is the standard D365 one.
Payslips are built in to Advanced Payroll. We just customised them to the client’s design (startin in AX 2012.)
Leave requests are in a module we built for them, since the Loki StaffRight didn’t make it to D365.
The client doesn’t give loans to employees.

What has been your experience with payroll compliance and country-specific regulations?
This product was highly configurable to local regulations.

Do you prefer a payroll solution fully embedded in D365 F&O or an external system integrated with it?
Definitely prefer fully embedded.

i’ve always liked the idea of keeping payroll separate. keeping sensitive data outside of the ERP just reduces exposure surface if there were ever issues with permissions.
also, most of the options inside d365 kind of stink, imo.
