Outlook Client and Version 4

Whilst using version 4 recently, I have noticed that the “allow Access” securtiy box no longer appears. I have checked the “Whats new” and found that the OLHandler.dll file has been fixed. My questions are these… Has anyone had the opportunity yet to find out what has been done different by MS that enables v4 to interact without the security window ? Can I reverse engineer this for previous versions of navision ? Do i just need to assign the new dll file into my previous versions ? TIA. Dean [8D]

Hi dean, Be carfull with multi version of Navision. ( V4 and V3.70 for example). All the dll are changed in V4 and if you have an other version on your PC windows not be able to give the good version of DLL to Navision. For your question : the new dll are not compatible with old version of navsion. regards.

Hello Dean, At the risk of side stepping your actual questions, we got around the security issue with previous versions of Navision using the Exchange Server Toolkit. We found the solution in a Microsoft Article which basically involves deploying a template through the toolkit which gives you access to advanced configuration options, you can then point the client machines to the template through the registry. Apologies if this is old news, if not and you want more information let me know and I will look up the article number. Regards

Hi Paul, Link would definately be useful. Thanks Dean

Hello Dean http://support.microsoft.com/kb/263297/EN-US/ You will need to consume all the information but it is not as bad as it first seems. In essence download the Security Template using the links on the page and follow the instructions to deploy it to the relevant folder on the exchange server. When you run the template you will see lots of nice options you can change including the option to prevent the security message from applications accessing outlook through MAPI. The registry edit instructions are to point the client machines at the template instead of there local settings. Let me know if you have any problems. Regards

I am receiving the error “The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision ) cannot be found.” with v4 & v4 SP1 when trying to send an e-mail from Navision (client card, vendor card etc) using Outlook 2001 SR1. I have re-registered the olhandler.dll and all the other suggestions I can find on the forums. I have just read this thread and it seems to fit as another PC with only version 4 SP1 on it is not suffering the same problem (albeit with Outlook 2003). I am interested to know if anyone has more technical details on how two versions of Navision (2.01 & 4.0) can be on the same PC and still both link to Outlook correctly. Alternatively if I remove version 2.01 how can I ensure the old MAPI files are removed - i.e. which ones are they? Thanks
