number sequence has been exceeded error AX 2012 FP

Hello I have a number sequence set up for PO that starts with PO-###### (6 digits). I am getting error - number sequence 5637145182 has been exceeded. So I increased the format to another digit. When I tried to confirm the PO again, I got this error - it still had the old format so I can understand. but the error message was the same.- ( i would have expected to see a warning that the number format is incorrect as supposed to the limit being exceeded"!). hopefully when i create a new PO, we should be ok with PO.

  1. what does the above number “5637145182” mean?

another observation: I increased the buffer size to 50 (from the default, i had it set to 30 earlier). I wonder if it will have any impact on number sequences?

thank you for your feedback.

any thoughts from anyone?

Hi,

The number ‘5637145182’ refers to the rec id. The number sequence with this rec id has been consumed.

When you are updating the number sequence, are you updating the largest number along with ‘#’

Also, check the next number.

Pranav…

Hello Pranave, thanks a lot. I thought the issue was when confirming the PO. But actually the error happens when you receive the product i.e. click on product receipt it shows this error. I am looking at the product receipt voucher number sequence -

start : 100000000

largest 109999999

next is 100000878

I am not sure why AX is throwing this error. Is it looking at any other number sequence?

You need to go to the AP parameters and look at the product receipt number sequence referenced and check that if the “Use same number as” is selected you update that number sequence.

Hi Adam, yes. I am looking at the product receipt number sequence whose values I have as above. So should I click on “Re-use Numbers” check box?

next value is 100000762 & largest is 109999999; smallest 100000000; set to increase “continuous”

sorry the next interval is 100000878. ( i was looking at test); System performed last complete clean up early today

I increased the length to 10 and set the largest to 1999999999 and left the smallest and next increment as is. Still not working. Also ticked the “Reuse numbers”

Could I be able to create a new number sequence for this and try? if so, do I need to stop this current sequence? pls help

i am able to click on “Receipt list” and be able to post it. but just not the product list!

any help is appreciated.

Can you post a screen shot of the reference in AP and of the number sequence referenced?

Hi Adam, please see below. I ticked “reuse” but same issue so I revert it.

I am thinking perhaps sub-ledger number sequence might be looked at! - I was looking at them - most of the General Journal related number sequence have company name “abc” and “-” as prefix followed by 9 digit numeric.

Another observation - I temporarily removed the number sequence for product receipt voucher and was hoping that AX will throw a warning that seq wasn’t set up when I try to post the product receipt. But strangely AX still post the same error message as above.

This is the screen shot of Acco_20, how is Acco_23 configured as you have this one referenced by use of the follow field.

You also need to tell us the company the number sequence is valid in, you omitted this from the screen shot, as well as the company you are actually in!

Hi Adam, any thoughts. much appreciated

Hi Adam, I figured it out. Its not the product receipt voucher. I had to look at the recID from the data table and it turns the costing voucher that maxed out. now its works. thanks for your helps

Hi, your issue is not in product receipt but in “receipt costing voucher”, check the sequence at Inve_78 and update the “largest field”.

path : //Organization administration/Common/Number sequences/inventory management area/receipt costing voucher.
