New KB article from Microsoft on Max Memory in SQL Server

The Knowledge Base article is here:

support.microsoft.com/…/2413549

Separately, I had a blog post on my website where I recommend setting Max Memory to an appropriate value. I can’t say that my experiences with SQL Server and setting an appropriate value for Max Memory are directly aligned with the KB article, but I fully believe that using the default value of 2TB for Max Memory is inappropriate and risky. One should bound the SQL Server instance to an upper limit, such that there is still sufficient memory for the OS and other services.
