I am not sure how Dynamics AX 2009 handles a situation when a item has a revision or is obsolete. I know there is a field called Alternative Item Number. However, my understanding is that this is only used when an item is not in stock and the company is offering an alternative item. Is there a way of letting everyone know that part “A1” is now being replaced by part “B2/01” or is now obsolete?
You can use the alternative item concept with Always option (or) stop the existing item for being used in the transactions(from default order settings) and create a new item and use it in place where the old item was used…
