Need Help - Reporting currency error

I have a problem with D365 F&O reporting. When I run a report to show debit transactions balance and Credit transactions balance in sperate columns for specific balance sheet account in entity currency, it shows the correct result but when I change the currency it shows wrong value for debit transactions balance.

Note:

- The account has no debit transactions in report period ( Current fiscal year )

- This error only happened with this account

- I can’t drill down this wrong number to the source transaction

- This Error happened only with current fiscal year, but the report works correctly with pervious fiscal year

- When I tracked the wrong value shown in the report, I found it match to all debit transactions in pervious fiscal year

-Pervious fiscal year-end closing entries are posted correctly and trial balance have no issues with opening balances or closing balances

I’ve come across something similar before with one of our customers, and in that case, it turned out to be more of a reporting/currency translation issue rather than an actual data problem. A few things you can try:

  • Check if the issue only happens when you change the currency. Run the same report in both entity and reporting currency and compare.

  • Make sure the exchange rates for the current fiscal year are properly set up. Missing or incorrect rates can sometimes cause strange balances.

  • Double-check the report filters and date ranges against the previous year where it works fine.

  • Run a detailed trial balance or account statement in the changed currency to confirm if the numbers match.

In our case, these checks helped narrow it down and the trial balance was still correct, so it pointed towards the report itself rather than the transactions. It might not be the same for you, but worth giving these steps a try.

This could be a data cache issue. Did you try resetting the data mart ? Please note that Microsoft suggests doing it during down time as financial data is not available; in the past we used to have to do this when we changed account structures and or added dimensions.
