Hi, I am looking for a Navision partner to help implement Navision 09 and wondered if anyone can suggest any, it is for a retail system including POS, Accounts, Sales/Receivables/Goods receiving/Ordering, basically the full retail cycle. Regards Mike
Hello Mike and Welcome to Dynamics User Group,
You can search the microsoft partners on following link:
http://pinpoint.microsoft.com/en-GB/default.aspx?wt.mc_id=PPUK_ExpertsNavLink_CustomerInterest_2HP
or else contact Microsoft regional office for this.
Hi Mike,
I don’t sell Navision and don’t implement it. But what I do is review the proposal you get from your partner and help you to make sure its and the project are on track. If you get the feeling that you need an independent view of the project before you sign the contract, and want to understand what you are agreeing to, then feel free to contact me.
Unfortunately the Personal Messaging and email systems are a bit messed up on the site and impossible to find. But if you go to my profile http://dynamicsuser.net/members/David-Singleton/default.aspx
Then you can PM me by clicking on the link Start Conversation
Or email me at dug(at)go-live.us
Hi Dave,
The link you referred to in the post didn’t work so I hope you don’t mind me contacting you in this way
We are about to go live (April 6th) with an emergency installation of Nav version BE 2009 for six companies but in a limited way to get us up and running. (The old system suddenly started crashing and was very unstable.) So the very basics (Phase 1) should all be in. Phase 2 is all the extras and bells and whistles that we think, or are being told we need so I’d like a second professional opinion of what is being proposed as I know these guys know how to charge! I’d like to be sure that what is being proposed (and the charge) is not an over-kill and that what they are proposing doesn’t already exist in standard Nav. We have been told: This will take 3 days and that will be 5 days a X rate per day.
I’m happy to pay for all that we genuinely need but I don’t want to pay for more additional development than is really and genuinely needed. There are many reports that we need, and a way to minimise all the inter company posting, good clear financial reports, cash flow reports by company, budgets by company and the best way to consolidated all 6 companies…just as an examples.

Mike,
If you’re looking for a retail solution make sure to check out the solution above :

Hi Mike
You are right to try and get a recommendation. I have worked with two NAV suppliers and have found both to be slow to respond and focussed on maximising consultancy time more than product functionality.
My advice is once you have found a partner keep a detailed track of the days they have worked for you (oddly errors in invoicing work in their favour) and if you agree a set price for a spec with detail on final functionality make sure you understand the detail of that spec. All chages will understandably be chargeable, but the costs can easily escalate.
Do as much system training as you can before signing up to any final contract so you understand what you are signing up to and get a better feel for the type and quantity of mods you will need so you can have them included in the spec up front.
Artov : if you don’t thrust the partner you work with, you can always go the fixed price project route.
Tarek- that only works well if you can define all your requirements up front. If you do not know the product well this is difficult to do. You can end up with a lot of extras.
Many consultants nowadays seem to be far more sales oriented than solution oriented. A small mod that is less than an hours work is charged out at 1/2 a day minimum. Booking a consultant at say £900 a day also incurs £50 project management charge. Ridiculous in my opinion.
