Navision Restore breaks on SQL 2005

Hello everyone,

i’ve got a new problem while (tech.) converting our database from 3.70 to 4.00 sp2. when i try to restore a native backup of one company to the sql server 2005 with navision 4.00 sp2 (build 22611) the jobs runs about 8 to 12 hours before the followin error occurs:

“the server is not reachable. there is propably a connection error. try to open the database ba file, database, open…”

the restore is then rolled back in the sql server. there is no error in the event / sql logs.
several other restore with the same configuration has already been restored fine. but this is the biggest company (about 60 gb).

Information about system configuration:
sql server 2005 enterprise x64 sp1 (7 GB RAM)
navision 4.00 sp2 build 22611
server: fujitsu primergy rx600 s2 with 4 xeon 7040 with 16 GB RAM
os: windows 2003 r2 enterprise x64 (clustered)

database: Navision 2.60 on 3.70 build 14988.

What is the size for the destination SQL database and SQL Log?

Can you restore successfully into a native database?

Are you running the Navision client on the SQL server or on antoher system?

i) expected size for database 90gb, log same

ii) haven’t tried because of the size

iii) client runs directly on the sql server

What I’ve seen happening when I restore nav sp2 on sql2k5. Is that it goes all the way to the end and hangs. I simply kill navision client. Reopen it and click on restore. If it’s not finished it will ask to finish it. If it’s finished it will ask for a new backup file. The db works fine and I haven’t had any issues with it. This has happened to me several times so I wouldn’t worry about it.
