Navision Redundancy Server

I have been instructed to set up a Navision Redundancy Server. What I need to know is, does Navision use clustering and if so, do I need to buy the following hardware: Fibre Channel Array Rack Fibre Channel Storage Hub Fibre Channel HST Adptr Kit PCI Redundant Array Controller Or can I simply get a good Redundancy Software and use an identical Server?

Are you using SQL or the native Navision database? Craig Bradney Technical Manager Navision Solutions & Services, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Email:cbradney@deloitte.com.au

Hi Can anybody tell me someting about what is “Navision Redundancy Server” Regards

We are using the native Navision.

Navision Financials native database does not have that facility. You can change to SQL database or use some 3 part solution. You can look at http://www.databackbone.dk/ and their Replicator Product. (I don’t have any experience of their product, maybe some one else have us it.) Per.Bay@navigera.com Product Manager www.navigera.com

We have a customer that installed Native Navision using NT built in clustering. This is possible but not really recommended. Using SQL is a better solutions for clusters. However, you need to be careful when converting to SQL. Even though Navision SQL is on par with other SQL accouting packages, some functions are much faster on the native Navision engine. If you convert to SQL, make sure you do performance testing first. Also, wait for 2.6d. (May already be released or will be soon.)
