hello, help is needed … we set up an english citrix server (metaframe XPs, FR2) on an english w2k server (SP3 & latest fixes). we installed the german navision financials client 2.60D. we changed the startup icon to have the ID=%USERNAME,TEMPPATH=%TEMP% at the end of the commandline. on starting the finsql.exe we can see that the installation is been finalized (some files seem to be copied). we can log into the database fine, but we cannot open any client. the application crashes without telling anything. then the ZUP file does exist under documents and settings\username\application data. on restarting the finsql.exe we can see that the installation is again been finalized (some files seem to be copied again) and we can log in again, but it crashes wen accessing the client (Mandant is it called in german). any ideas ? greatly appreciated. thanks joern richter macs hamburg
Hi. First of all You should use the installation script for WTS/Citrix. If You have access to the partnerweb in your country You should find the download there, otherwise i can send it to you.
Hello Lars, please send it to me. We have no access to the partnerweb in germany. thanks joern p.s what does this script do differently to the normal installation ? pps. i will be in kiel at the kieler woche next week, so might not read as much this thread as i like to do.
OK. Give me Your email and it will be a lot easier[:D]
shure, jrichter@macship.com is the script available on the net somewhere or kind of secret ? thanks in advance joern maritime carrier shipping / hamburg
Hi Lars, Can you send me the script as well to prashant@esg-inc.com I had to make a copy of the shortcut so that each time the user click on the standard Program files short cut. System ask him to install again. Then can access, so far there has been no crash. I do know that you cannot use some combinations of Langauges on a single citrix server.
Hi, is it possible to send this script to Nico.Vanhaecke@brachot.com ? My NSC doesn’t know about a script, and we are installing 3 brand new servers (3 citrix servers- one database server and COMPAQ EVA SAN disk unit). When the installation of Navision client is at 99% it rollbacks, without any message, event, … Thanks in advance Nico
I have 2.60D running fine on Windows Server 2003, Terminal Server & Previously on Windows 2000 Server-SP3 TS. Make sure you’re installing from the console, put the server in Install Mode via “Change user /install”, run the install, put the server in Execute mode via “Change user /execute”. Create a normal Windows Shortcut to FinSql.exe or Fin.exe depending on which you’re using. The shortcuts published to the start menu cause WIndows Installer to run each time which is a PITA, hence using the standart shortcuts. Installing from a session will fail.

Hi Rouse. This will work with 2.60, but not for the newer versions. If You do like this with an 3.60 You users wont be able to use the on-line help text and company notes. Rgds
Well the question stated that he was using 2.6D, that’s why I replied stating the setup that works for us. What is required for 3.6-3.7, an MST for Terminal Server?

Oupps! Didn’t notice that. Sorry.
Hello, we finally found the problem … we ammended the application to have access to the ip adress of the client who logs on. (and decide thereafter to block some functionality) for this a dll needs to be available, which was not. we had to look deep in our old intallation notes and found it. thanks anyhow for all the help. joern
