Navision Clock

This morning Navision sent all our NCR’s a clock and another invite to Copenhagen. Has anybody else received one of these or is it just the UK or just us. Don’t get me wrong it is a very nice clock but why, are they not getting many responses to go to Copenhagen. I would love to go but my company will not pay for me to go and I would love to throw my beer cans at the little mermaid. Paul Baxter

I haven’t received the clock, but then again, I have about 5 differenct Navision clocks  However, 15 pounds will get you to Denmark (one way) with Ryanair. Hello! Like Paul, I wouldn’t mind going to Copenhagen to attend the Navision Technical Briefing, but as a support consultant, I don’t think it’s likely I will be going as I am not a priority. I have never attended one of these myself, but many of the people who I know who have attended them in the past have been critical of the quality & usefulness of the briefings & have been disinclined to attend in future. It maybe that Navision have decided to drum up interest with the clocks. Alternatively, they could be really brilliant & they are keeping a good thing to themselves… -------------------------------- Edward Bloomfield Navision Support Consultant Cambridge Online Systems Limited www.cambridgeonline.net

When is this event taking place? If not after June 1st. then you would not be able to throw your beer cans at the little mermaid anyway Because until this day you will not be able to buy canned beer in Denmark (the new government just allowed canned beer and sodas in Denmark). Can you tell more about this event - did anyone in the US get it as well? Best regards, Erik P. Ernst, webmaster

Don’t worry the throwing cans was a joke but I was wondering how far the clock thing went. It looks like all UK NCRs have got one, nice to see Navision spending its money on us!!! It has two suckers on it we could all throw them at the mirmaid and see who can make it stick!!! I don’t know the dates, but who cares about the talks what can the possibly tell us, a brief overview of the future, where the product is going, who it is aimed at. That will take all of ermmmm an hour, the only reason to go would be to meet you guys. You learn much more from talking to other developers than you would from any briefing. Paul Baxter

(At last a government with some sense :-))

Robert: correction: At last the government came to it’s senses  (regarding canned beer & sodas) Paul: The mermaid is so small, it will be very difficult to actually hit it anyway  And now, the serious part: As Paul said, he gets a lot out of talking to us at this forum. Well, so do I. That lead me to the next thought, which is: IF there is going to be such an event, would it then be an idea to make a pre-event for NOLUG members? We could meet the day before the actual event. I don’t yet know what the agenda should be, and how we should finance it. But, I would gladly spend some free time on arranging it. What do you guys think? Lars I don’t think hitting the mermaid is the point it is trying to hit the mermaid is the fun. Erik - The Navision Technical Briefing takes place in Copenhagen on 3-5 April, unfortunately I can not go even if I pay for it myself as I will be in the Lake district. But meeting up does sound like a good idea to me may be in the future. Paul Baxter

Paul: sorry I missed the point  You’re right, the Technical Briefing takes place in Copenhagen 3-5 April. The website is www.navision.con/ntb You should get the username and password from your NTR. This Technical Briefing is for Navision professionals only, so I won’t publish username and password here. For your information, SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) have just announced a large cut in their rates. Now, for example, you can get a return ticket from Copenhagen to London for around 60 Pounds. SO for those of you who are coming, this may be worth investigating. Sorry I mean that I can not make it to the NTB as I am away with my family. But I think meeting up is a very good idea and should be arranged and may be next time I could attend. Sorry about the confusion. I have a username and password from navision on a card that came with the clock but they don’t work. OK I just noticed they put password first and username second how dim!!! Paul Baxter

A good idea (to get together). Does anyone else want to participate? Best regards, Erik P. Ernst, webmaster

It’s a wonderful idea to arrange a NOLUG meeting before the official one. Yes, I would be interested to join in. — Now to the more serious part: Are beer-bottles available in Denmark? With best regards from Switzerland Marcus Fabian

Paul: I don’t think you are allowed to keep the clock, if you are not attending, so please send it to me  Marcus: Yup, there are lots of beer bottles available in Denmark. If you behave, then I will even bring some beer CANS. I have around 80 beers left from our housewarming this summer. By the way, if any of you are taking one of the low fares airlines to Billund or Århus (Aarhus) then let me know, then you can get a free ride to Copenhagen with me, and I might even be able to provide a bed for a couple of you guys, if your arrival schedule means that you have to arrive a day early or leave a day late  Lars Strøm Valsted ------------------------- Software development today is a race between the programmers trying to make better and more foolproof programs, and the universe trying to make bigger idiots. Lars, I would like to ask you if you would be our “official” pre-briefing meeting organizer? Best regards, Erik P. Ernst, webmaster

Erik, your wish is my command  I will come back later today or tomorrow requesting input from all of you guys  Lars Strøm Valsted ------------------------- Software development today is a race between the programmers trying to make better and more foolproof programs, and the universe trying to make bigger idiots.
