NAV Update

Hello guys

We are planning to update our NAV 5.0 SP1 System to NAV 2013 R2.
As I know, I have to do an update to 2009 SP1 first.

The converting of the database works. But when I want to run the 104001 Upgrade - Old Version (I imported 601700.1.fob, not 601701.1.fob → I don’t have this file in my UpgradeToolKit, where can I find it?), I got the following error (in any company):

“Reference to the member Abbreviated Name of the variable could not be solved.”

I read that the Abbreviated Name is a new field in 2009. Where can I get it?

And what is this error message and how can I fix it?

Best regards
raphi

HI,

better You can do the upgrade to nav 2009 r2 . you can find the upgrade tool kit inside the product cd of navision.

Please see if this information works!.

Welcome To DUG!!!

Which country version you are using ?

If specified file not found in your toolkit then you might need to download the installed for NAV 2009 SP1 again and check from the upgrade toolkit again

You can following link for upgradation

Thanks for your quick response!

@Anil Kumar Anisetty: ah, I will try it with R2 again. But I think the UpgradeToolKit is in the 2013 package, because 2009 has only 400 and 370.

@Amol: Where can I find this information?

I know this tutorial and it is nice, the only problem I have: I don’t know how to do the “compare and merge process”. Do you have a detailed tutorial or manual for it?

Best regards

raphi

For compare & Merge you can use Developer Tool Kit or you can use compare like Araxis Merge.

It is process for comparing the customized object and standard object and developer need to decide which code need to merge with new navision code

Before merging developer should need to understand what are changes has been done in new version.

Hello Amol

Thank you for your response.

Yes, I know that I have to compare & merge. But do I have to compare EVERY object with another object in a new database?

Do you know a step-by-step tutorial for this process?

Best regards

You have export the both the database object file in text format and then compare the object using araxis merge or developer tool kit

You need to understand what the changes done in new object and which customization you need to carry forward in new object.

It may happen you have done some customization which is taken care in new standard navision by MS.
