Nav 2009 R2 RTC

Hi All.

I am a newbie here and also a newbie to Dynamics. We have setup a test company using Nav 2009 R2 Classic w/ SQL Option. I understand that most configuration and setup needs to be done there, however not that the company is setup, we can connect through Role Tailored Client. When I open RTC it seems to always connect to the default Cronus native database. When I go to select server, it does not give me an option to connect to a SQL Server.

I went to run > services.msc and setup the connection of using a domain account that we use in classic to connect. All logins are synced. What do I need to do in order to connect RTC to SQL. Is there a procedure somewhere to follow?

Much thanks. Looking forward to collobrating.

Jared

The RTC doesn’t connect directly to SQL Server. The RTC is part of the 3 tier architecture, and you will need to install a service tier to be able to run the RTC. Get your partner involved, they will be able to help you set this up.

type in server connection localhost:7046/DynamicNav

RTC client works with SQL server only. To configure SQL database connection for Dynamics NAV server you should setup the CustomSettings.xml file in Service folder.

hi,

can you tell me what kind of setup is we do in customsetting.xml

thank you.

Hi Omprakash,

In customsetting.xml you can mention which database you want to connect …
