NAV 2009 R2 and Outlook 2010 integration

I am looking for information or a manual on how to configure my system to log email communications within Dynamics NAV 2009 R2.

SERVER:

  • Windows 2008 Server with MS Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 installed.
  • MS Exchange 2010 server.

CLIENTS:

  • MS Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 client.
  • MS Office 2010 (MS Outlook 2010)

Any information on configuring this would be greatly appreciated.

Further to my query above, I found the following documentation on MSDN -

I have followed most of it but I run into problems when applying the synchronization setting in the Outlook Add-In. I have used the Application Server method and therefore when configuring as per the instructions under “To establish an Apllication Server synchronization Connection”, I am bale to select my correct Server Name, Database Name and Company Name from the drop down list however when I then click on Test Connection I get the following error message:

“The connection to ‘Database Name’ Microsoft Dynamics NAV database failed. The program returned the following error:
The response from Microsoft Dynamics NAV has not been received because of connection timeout. Please check if the Microsoft Dynamics NAV server is running and try again later. If the problem persists increase the timeout value in the configuration file. Please verify your synchronization settings. If the problem persists contact your system administrator.”

SYSTEM SETUP:
Windows 2008 Server (Microsoft Domain)
SQL Server
Microsoft Dynamics 2009 R2 Server

CLIENT SETUP:
Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM
Windows 7 Professional
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 RoleTailored Client
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 Classic Client
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 Classic with Microsofr SQL Server Client
Microsoft Office 2010 (Outlook 2010)

Did you actually enter the name of your database in the setup? Or did you just leave it as “Database Name”?

I entered the NAV database name.
