I am trying to understand what is involved in setting up Inventory and Manufacturing transactions and SFDC in our Nav Manufacturing environment, so that I can make some informed suggestions for next years budget.
I am looking specifically at Hand Held Wireless Scanners for Inventory ( PO Receipts, Inventory moves, Pick to Manufacturing Orders) and “supermarket” scanners for inline manufacturing processing including integrating bench test results into Manufacturing Order records
In a previous life I have implemented a system running VB scripts on the guns via an automation server ( Connectelligence ) and getting data to and from ERP using ODBC and trapping logic errors both on the guns and when trying to update the ERP and I need to compare that with the way Nav users normally do it.
I am keeping a weather eye open for AX, replacing Nav in the near future, so I don’t want to put too much coding into Nav if I can do most of the logic on a middle ware server, so all I have to change is outputs and inputs.
I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who has some experience of this in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
