Lotus Notes Integration with Navision

Hi, all! We use Lotus Notes (5.0.11) and want to use it in the Relationship Management module of Navision instead of Outlook. Is it possible? Regards, Kjell Navision 3.01B

I’m afraid not. Navision is a Microsoft product, you know… [;)]

It is possible by using the Domino COM components as Automation objects this gives you access to read and write to the Notes databases. There is a fair amount of work to do to get it to work though

Sorry Kjell, but one must ask … why[V] It would be less work to just dump notes for Outlook, than to write the interface, and then you get the added bonus of getting rid of Notes [;)]

Notes is the strategic tool for communication and collaboration for the whole group. I can’t see any bonus in getting rid of Notes. Outlook isn’t an option.

If you are going to integrate Lotus and Navision, then first step has to be to get off version 5.x, it has a lot of issues with Navision, especially if you have less than 128Meg of RAM, and you really want to be only on Win2000. Version 6, whilst still having all the nightmares of Notes, at least seems to run on the same computer as Navision. Good luck… you’ll need it. BTW if you do get it working, hard as it is to believe, there could actually be a huge market if you bundle the interface as an Add-On.

It is possible, the problem occurs because notes does not recognise the resolve name command that navision trys to do, we managed to convince Navision (at the time) to give the dll source file and we removed the offending call.

We have create a module for Lotus Notes integration. Please contact me for details. Best regards, Navi Partner (Denmark) Tommy Olesen Partner tfo@navipartner.dk

I tried in in a Navision 2.60 Version without any success, but you can write an OCX or an ActiveX DLL in VB or somethin like that and in there you can use the COM components.

Intoint (www.intoint.com) also has a module for integrating Navision with Lotus Notes (mail, calendar, to-do’s, contacts and more). Further information on http://www.intograte.com

Flemming, do you have a demo of that?

We are soon going to place a demo version for download on the homepage. We are working on documenting the installation procedure. If you are in a hurry we can send you a demo version with preliminary installation description. Best regards Flemming

I will download the demo when you make it available on the home page. It sounds very interesting. Thanks for the information about this integration tool.

I would like to receive a demo, zip it and echange the zip to something else because I can´t receive a zip file. magnus.lauberg@systeam.se

A demo-version of the Navision integration kit (INTOGRATE Navision - CRM) is now available on www.intoint.com/download
