I would like to know if we could use our India Partner License for Korean Navision customization. As far as I understand, we should be able to customize tables, pages, codeunit etc except that are specifically designed to handle Korean customization. But I would like to get more authentic information from any of you guys who may have an experience dealing with this situation.
Thanks for the reply Mohana. In fact we are planning to take up a few works for one Korean customer. But before starting up the process, I wanted to ensure that our partner license is capable enough to handle their database customizations. They are just starting the implementation, so not database for me to check out. Not sure if I can download the Korean Kronus database from Microsoft and try …
If you would just have searched the site, then you would have seen that a Korean NAV Localization does exist. It’s just not an official Microsoft release. It’s the same as in many other “minor” Microsoft Dynamics NAV countries like China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam and more. In these countries there are one or multiple partners who offers a localized version of Navision.
But in regards to your other question regards to your licensing, then partner license is normally regional. This means that with my Danish Partner License then I can use and customize not only my own country’s objects, but also the localized set objects from countries with my region which is EMEA. That means that unless there are different rules in Asia now, compared to 5 years ago, then it still the same for the APAC countries.
If it’s a localization made under the “Certified for Microsoft Dynamics” (CfMD) program, then it will have it’s own set of objects and your partner needs to be approved to sell it. If it is not, then they will be using normal 50.000 - 99.999 range. In which case you will not have a problem.
Thanks Eric. I know that Korean Localization exists and saw it as well. In fact I didn’t want to prolong this query unnecessarily thinking that people may not be aware of this. But I am wrong, I underestimated the forum experts:)-
As you rightly said, it is region specific. We should be able to customize those localization tables which are developed by partners under Microsoft Program, but not those modules developed by partners alone. For e.g., Tectura US has a process module which cannot be modified ( codeunits) with our India license. Anyway I am waiting for the Korean standard database to be sent to me, then I can have the final say. Thank you again Eric!
Not quite sure what to say. So you asked a question you already knew the answer for, and even verified the wrong answer, knowing it was wrong??? I hope I misunderstood that one!
Apologies, my intentions were good! I wanted to confirm my doubts, when stalwarts like Mohana said they are not so aware of this, I thought to let it go without further leaving it open. I should not be doing like this way forward.
The list of official Microsoft developed localizations has gone down a lot since Dynamics NAV 2009. Here Microsoft introduced the “Microsoft Dynamics Partner Localization and Translation Licensing Program” (PLLP). This basically means that Microsoft has “transferred” the responsibility of creating localized versions in certain countries to local partners, instead of doing this themselves. In the “Product Availability, Localization and Translation Guide for Microsoft Dynamics NAV” you can see the number of official/certified localizations.
But on top of that there are also localizations available for China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Georgia, Belarus, Montenegro, Kosovo, Peru, Chile, Columbia, Uruguay, Angola, Bahrain, Bukina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mozambique, Nigeria, Oman, Réunion, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe. There might be more countries having a localization, but then I just don’t know it (but would like to know it - please comment on the download page).
Thanks Mohana and Eric for your time. Yes Mohana as you correctly said, I should be spending more time in replying and be more specific on answers. Looking forward to the forum for greater lessons…
