In a make to stock situation, we wish to keep one month of an item on hand. Say that the amount is twelve. With an expected demand of 10 distributed throughout the month, we know that 4 can be produced through production orders. The other six need to be purchased. How can we cause Axapta to create purchase orders based on demand, inventory on hand, and production on order for a part that is make or buy?
Hm, trying to see exactly what is needed. Of course the “stop explosion” checkbox in th Item would cause the Master Planning do generate Purchase orders for BOM items.THe “netting” process would work normally, if there are production orders in the pipeline, it would subtract those quantities, based on the setting in “negative days”. It sounds you want Axapta to decide whether to make or buy? That’s not really available, although you can prompt the Planning engine … You have to use the Warehouse for Item Coverage. For one warehouse, you let the system come up with Production orders. For another warehouse, that is set up for refill, you choose “NEVER” and the system will generate purchase orders. So you can decide, when creating the sales order or the production order, what the planning system is going to do, based on the chosen warehouse. Of course these warehouses have to be “virtual” so I won’t say this is a great solution. Please provide a little more detaail about the business requirement you have.
