Inventory management - can it handle rentals

Hi,

I got a question the other day if NAV 2013 could handle that you rented out your inventory (i.e. not selling it). I said that it could but going over the documentation I have, I cannot see that it does. So now I am asking you guys, can NAV handle renting out stuff?

I think you can by creating seprate location as’Rental’ and transfer the Inventory in that location.

No, NAV 2013 doesn’t have rental management as a standard module. So while you might be able to handle it if rentals are not your main business, using locations etc. as a workaround, then if rentals is a more important part of your business, then you should look for a rental management add-on for NAV.

There are many rental add-ons available for Dynamics NAV in many countries, the only question is if there are any which already has been developed and tested for Dynamics NAV 2013?

This is what I suspected. However, I do think we can solve it the way Amol said (or in similar way suggested by a consultant on our side). Thank you both for your help.
