In Post Inventory cost to G/L batch job when it comes to the options tab we have a field posting method. that has two options per posting group and per entry.
Could any one elaborate this issue . I am not getting how it works exactly.

if you choose per item ledger entry, you will get G/L entries twice as much as you have item ledger entries.
what means, the system will write a g/l entry per item LE. for ex: 1 billion lines
if you choose per posting group, then then gl entry will be grouped by posting group/dimensions. ex: 20 lines
it works on value entries
Seems that you absolutely reccommend to use “Per Posting Group” - I mean, 1 billion lines compared to 20 lines. [:^)]
I myself reccommend my customers to use the other method, “Per Entry”. In case of error it is far easier to find reasons for errors. Using “Per Posting Group” you have no chance [:'(]. Especially if 1 billion lines are compressed into 20 lines.
And 1 billion lines, where is the problem? More disk-space needed.[H]
On the other hand (and serious) - if Inventory Setup field “Automatic Cost Posting” is checked, postings will be done line by line. And then the “Post Inventory Cost”-batch is not needed.
But - no matter what - remember to run the “Adjust Cost”-batch on a regular basis (once a week is minimum).
