import data from excel to navision production BOM

Hi All,

I am using the manufacturing module.

My QC Staff need to create 500 new production BOM and we are thinking if it is possible to import the data from excel to navision?

Seek for advice… thanks.

Yes, you can use XMLports to import data into Production BOM header and Production BOM line and please make sure you validate all fields while importing to make sure the data you are importing is valid.

Hi, how to do that, any guide?

it can be done through DMS universal XML port , you need to copy all the data into notepad and then import it to navision. it is a faster and a reliable option.

Hi Yuneek Singh, how to do that? any guide / tutorial regarding this?

Look at the existing xmlport and you will have to build on your own.

Hi sbhatbng,

i tried to access xmlport but i am facing this error when want to see the “design”

Looks like the customer’s license does not have access to XMLPorts, if you have a developers license then definitely it should allow you to get to the design of the XMLport.

I did see XML Port Designer in my license info…

You will then have to check and see if you have permission to read the Prod. bom header and Prod. bom line table. Go to Tables and try to run the table prod. bom header and prod. bom line from object designer and see if you can open the table, if you cannot run the table then you don’t have permission to run the table. If yours or your customers license has access to the object then it would be the table data.

i can run the table and see all the data inside.

What is the object no. you are giving to create your xmlport?

Hi sbhatbng,
I not yet create xmlport, i just want to view the design for xml port but the error shows up.
I am now figure another way round, using “Dataport”… still research on how to do it

As you have Dataports you can use dataports to import the data. You just line up your fields and bring them in, as simple as that for both Prod. bom header and Prod. bom line.

yeap… another thing for me to research is if,
when they create a new production BOM no, did it link to ITEM card as well… or anything need to do in ITEM card as well.
Another thing is if i import from dataport, will it affect the current Production BOM table’s data or not…
not a easy job for me… T_T
