How to use kitting process in purchase module ax 2012

Hi All,

We have plan to purchase items in kits (means many item codes in one kit). Can any help me how to map with ax.

You are just buying an item - do you need to know the contents of the kit? Do you need to disassemble the kit?

Yes.we will disassemble. Kit have some manufacturing (raw material) items. will be use different production order also.

a) we need to track inventory, b) after finishing the production order costing to be track

You can try looking at kitting using kanbans and product configurations, but this is really sales kitting but you will need to see if it applies.

Secondly you could try using the BOM journal approach or a production order that consumes the kitted item and outputs one part and has negative BOM lines, or Formulas consuming the kitted item and it produces a main item and then has co-products for the other kit elements.

If you are mapping to Co-products, consider ‘Planning Item’ concept for the Formula item Production type.

So your Kit item (Formula) basically has Raw materials defined as co-products and Production type= Planning Item. Cost of kit in total will be allocated entirely across the co-products (raw materials) of your kit. But here you can’t realize the Kit item into inventory. It is just used to produce raw materials that’s it.

Please read raw materials as kit elements here. This is just a thought in addition to Adam’s suggestion.

Finally we got solutions in report as finished in Product information management → Engineer tab (Mr.Adam suggesstion-BOM Journal).

Just we have created one item and assigned kits in BOM/FORMULA.

Post the item in Report as finished and got the kit’s in assigned warehouses.

Cost also automatically calculated against the items.

Does anyone know how to track sales of kit item numbers? I can get sales dollars but not sales units. The sales units revert to the kit component item numbers.
