How to set up a Group Chart of Accounts for reporting purposes, and a Local Chart of Accounts for operations purposes

Hi everyone,

A customer of mine needs to be able to have a Local Chart of Accounts for the regular financial operations in AX and another Chart of Accounts for Consolidation purposes and reporting purposes.

This means to have two different Charts of Accounts in the same system. I thought of setting up the Group Chart of Accounts in a Virtual Company, and another (the Local Chart of Accounts) in a regular Dynamics AX Company.

Does this make sens to you?

If you do that, you will have to post a journal twice. I would create two companies in one VC. Then, company 001 for operation and lock COA in 002 for reporting purpose only. Unless, you want to post a journal twice, or same business transaction with different amount. That would be another story.
