I don’t want employees to be able to create new customers. how can I do that?
You can prevent employees from creating new customers through permissions. Don’t assign them any permissions sets that allow add INSERT permissions into the Customer Table.
I can’t find this option. Could you please send screenshots?
There are a lot of resources on the Internet that show how to manage Permission Sets in BC. There all just a Google or Bing search away.
Managing permissions NAV/BC in not a simple task. If you’re unsure after a few internet searches, I suggest asking your partner/vendor to take care of this for you.
You have look at what Permission Sets each user has. Then you look at each Permission Set and search for table data 18/Customer. Under the Insert column, it needs to be blank. You might want to also look at the Modify and Delete columns for table data 18 and consider removing permissions for that too.
Okay, are we able to hide this option for all users?
Short answer is yes. NAV/BC permissions are very granular and specific. The amount of work to make this happen differs for each company depending on how they have permissions currently setup. I’ve seen companies get frustrated and assign all users Super User permissions to get around all permission errors. Are you in this boat? You won’t know until you dive into each user’s permission.
