Dear All,
Could you please share your experience and tips of how we can extract the full transaction list for a period of time in the original currency that has been posted in along with the local currency. We are a charity organisation reporting in donor currency and this is crucial for our work.
Thank you
Hi @Elena_Yakova,
I don’t know how the donations are posted.
If you used an account, you won’t have any currency information of witch currency has been used in general ledger.
If you used a customer or vendor account, then you will have the currency in “Cust. Ledger Entry” or “Vendor Ledger Entry” tables. These tables al relationated with general ledger entries (“G/L Entry” table) through “Entry No.” field. There are some reports and pages that can be used to extract this information.
In the banks account entries, all entries are in the bank account currency.
Thank you very much @pjllaneras ,
part by part, I may manage to get the info, but I need everything in the period in one report/not to go after and do excel consolidation etc/.
I tried from General ledger entry, but this is shown only in local currency.
Do you have any idea?
There isn’t any report nor page can get this information all together in BC. You must do manual work with Excel or create a custom report with the info you need.
Thank you @pjllaneras
Can I use PowerBI or any other application for that matter?
Hi @Elena_Yakova,
First of all, think about how the donations have been posted in Business Central general journals… if you used an account, you won’t have this information. If you used a Bank Account, you only have information in the bank account currency, despite the donation was made in another currency.
The only way you can get currency information from Business Central is if the donation was posted using customer or vendor account.
If you can confirm this, you can try to join this information with general ledger and have transaction partially with the currency they was posted. You can try to use some of this to solve your problem:
- PowerBI: is not intended to do this, but perhaps you can achive what you need (I’m not sure)
- Copy data from pages to Excel and do some manual work to have all data as you need (try to use HLOOKUP formula: HLOOKUP function - Microsoft Support)
- Create a new report: if you know how to create a report in Business Central, is quite easy to get the information as you need
- If you have access to database (if you are in SaaS, you cannot do this), you can try to create an SQL query to extract information from general ledger entries and customer/vendor ledger entries.
Sure, you can find other ways to do this, but I think will not be easier.
Best regards.
Hi @Elena_Yakova ,
I’m facing a similar donor requirement. Did you find a solution for this?
Thanks,
Joris
