From..To operation number in porduction order start and report as finished

Dear all:

What is the advantage of selecting “From Oper. No." and "To operation No.” fields in the start of the production order and report as finished of the production order??

If I don’t select values in theses two fields during production order start or report as finished , can this affect the production order cycle (Raw materials consumption and quantity category since is use the quantity category in the production route to represent the company overheads) for costing wise and quantity wise??

Please advice

Thanks in advance

Please can any one help me?

Many thanks

It allows you to start a job at an operation level, leaving the other operations unstarted, also meaning the parameters are only defined for the operation. So if you forward flush all items and have 5 operations 10-50 and you start operation 10 it will forward flush the components from this operation and create a picking list for this operation (assuming you have linked the components of course to the route).

Thanks for your reply , I have another question , if I don select theses fields during the production order start of RAF , can this affect the material consumption or the production order cost?

Many thanks in advance

Yes and No, you may consume an item in the last operation (i.e. packaging) so if you started all it would be consumed at this point or the posting of the journal, which means the cost is posted earlier, but it does not impact on the overall production order cost, because this is accumulated as WIP until it is ended.
