Firm Planned production order

Hi,

I am reading Manufacturing manual . I could understand about 4 Production orders except Firm Planned production order.

What is the use of firm planned Production order.at what condition we can use this order.

Please let me know the practical situation.

You run your planning engine and it will create planned orders, if you run it again it deletes them all and creates planned orders again. If you have firm planned orders they are considered as supply, and will be treated in this manner. By being firm planned you have “firmed” the planning requirements but not yet released them to the shop floor. This allows the planner ot re-schedule and make changes without having to call everything back from the shop floor.
