Dynamics NAV 2015 Jobs and Purchase invoices

Hello,

We have recently started using the Job function in Nav 2015. We’ve got most of it working fine. Our issue is with Purchase Invoices.

When we post a purchase invioce to the Job it shows the cost, but we need to be able to post purchase invoices so they will also create an unposted sales value which will generate a sales invoice when we run the “create sales invoice line”.

I’ve checked the Microsoft forums and it says if we associate the PO with a planning contract line then when we post the PO as an invoice it should work, but it isn’t. Also we normally use the “get receipt lines” method of posting invoices.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Lee

Hi Lee,

Getting the Purchase Invoice Lines to show up on a sales invoice is a not intuitive at all, but possible. You may need to show specific fields as they are normally hidden. Show the following fields on the Purchase Invoice Line:

Job No. - select your job
Job Task - select the job task
Job Line Type - select ‘Contract’
Job Unit Price - enter the unit price you wish to charge your customer
Job Line Amount - this will autopopulate, but you can override if necessary.

As you can see, this is quite cumbersome and a lot to ask for your A/P Department to populate and populate correctly every time. For this reason, I have customized this area in the past. For example, a checkbox can be added to the Job Card to “Bill Expenses”. If populated, then Job Line Type and Job Unit Price will auto-populate. This makes it so your A/P user only needs to populate the Job and Job Task.
