I downloaded all 32 VM A files from the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU8 Solution Demo Package V1.0.
When I unzip files it created the AX2012R3A folder with sub-folders as Snapshots (empty), Virtual Hard Disks (with AX2012R3A_Data and AX2012R3A_OS files), and Virtual Machines (a file). But, there is no any config file that could be used when to import VM to the Hypo-V Manager.
So, I didn’t do importing that would probably do all work as far as I remember when I did it for the R2. Instead, I created VM in the Hypo-V Manager and linked the virtual hard drive to the AX2012R3A_OS. Surprisingly, I could run the VM and loging into AX. But, I could see the only Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and Employee Self Service. there When I try to run AX it gave me an error regarding no access to a server, connection, etc.
I also downloaded MicrosoftDynamicsAXR3CU8DemoData with files with extensions out, outmodel, etc. that probably could be added later.
Please, advise what steps I should take to be able tor run the AX Demo on VM.
Those two hard disk files and the contents of the Virtual Machines folder are all Hyper V needs. Do an Import Virtual Machine in Hyper V, and show it to the contents of the AX2012R3A folder.
Thank you, Guy Terry, for your response. I did it and it’s all almost working. But, now I can go till the CONTOSO login page then it’s crashed.
I’m using the MacBook Pro with 16Gb RAM with 12Gb allocated to the Parallel Desktop that run Win 8.1 Pro. I allocated 8,192 Mb to the VM and also played with 10Gb and 7Gb allocations but it’s all crashed.
With the previous approach when I connect a one virtual drive I managed to go in but it wasn’t the full version of course.
Please, advise if you might know if I could run it on Mac. I heard that people do it.Please, also advise if you again might know what settings such as RAM, etc, I could use on VM to make it work.
You should tell us what exactly crashed, any error you got or found in event log and do all the usual analysis. I agree that 8 GB is too little for this VM, but it doesn’t mean it’s the reason of the crash. It might be anything else.
Here is an error even. The general error is “Copy’ is no longer accessible: The system cannot find the path specified.” Please, take a look at the details below if it could help
For some reason the error is triggering the whole Windows to restart.

It could be with the connection. As was prescribed in a video I’d seen before I created a private network adapter and connected via it and a one local adapter. I deleted them all and created the private adapter again then run the VM but received the following error:

You haven’t answered what exactly crashed, but the following error suggests that you have a problem with configuration of your VM, therefore it makes little sense to discuss the content of the VM, network etc.:
The Virtual Machines configuration 94321ACC-4FE4-4C45-A826-38A748590004 at ‘F:\DATA\AX\AX DEMO\Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Demo\AX2012R3A_Copy’ is no longer accessible: The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003).
Review whether you have all files in places. Nevertheless the easiest solution may be deleting the VM in Hyper-V and setting it up again.
But, it’s crashing anyway. The error is referring to a guest operating system. I’m entering all paths into my documents folders.
