Hi, Are there any preprogrammed reports conserning Shortcut dimensions available in navision or do i have to create all of the ones i want? im looking for reports that will use the shortcut not the global. and i dont want to use the analysis by dimension feature.
Get a copy of Navision 2.60, and get the reports from there. Prior to 3.00 there were no dimensions. The reports may need some changes, but many will work straight out of the box. What specifically are you looking for?
HI, David… I dont have Nav 2.60, but if its too much can you just sent me the txt for th reports from 2.60, it would save me alot of trouble to find it. I need reports forexample : Detail trial Balance (with in the account i will be entering transacions with these 3…8 dimensions i want them sorted and by Dim value, its a real pain to work with the g/l entry table and dimension ledger entry and have them all fit together in a report , I also need to do this for trial Balance and … If there is anything like that in 2.60 ill be very interested! thanks anyways from your reply David.
If you want dimensions in your report other than dimension 1 & 2 you need to read the ledger entry dimension table, or make changes to add more dimensions to the g/l entries. Prior to 3.x there were only 2 dimensions I remember called project and department.
Thanks mark, But i already know that, Marq…

sorry if i wasnt clear in my previous reply. Im looking for already existing reports for navision so that i can modify, get some new ideas …
Maybe you can do something with temporary tables. You can maka new table that is designed specialy for this purpose, populate it runtime in the prereport trigger and then make your report. I don;t have standard reports for this, sorry.[:I]
Hi, Thats exactily what im doing now, damn so i have to do all these from scratch … [:(!] well i guess i gota do what i gotta do ! Thanks anyway
Maybe you can post the results in the download section, to make someone elses life easier. [8D] Good luck!
Hi Ziad, I also understood your post the same as Marq, assuming you wanted the 2 shortcut dimensions in reports. But for what you are doing, you shoudl be using account schedules it will be a lot easier.

Hi Ziad, this is not a beginners question [;)]. You wrote that you don’t want to use the Analysis by Dimension functionality - why? It seems to e a good way to get what you need: - add a few fields for the number of dimensions you need simultaneously - add another field and some code in the Analysis View Setup to lock away the system-used analysis views from user changes - extend the Analysis view posting code for the number of dimensions you need simultaneously - set up the analisis views the customer needs - in the reports: add a selection for the Analysis View to be used I think there will be a selection of 4 or 5 distinct useful sorting orders for the dimensions. I would create one analysis view for each one. This way you can use one report which sorts the data by the order of the analysis view dimensions. However, this solution will create a lot of data, you would need an additional granule (extended dimensions), and a lot of programming (5 to 10 days, depending on the reports). But this solution would be fast and convenient to use and flexible, if the customer’s demands change. greetings Jens
Thanks Jens, I assumed this is a Beginner question! The reason why i cant use the Anlysis by demension feature is because my company is very picky in looks and design so i have to always change things and add filters and …
Ziad, create the analysis views, then export them to excel, and do the “pretty” stuff there.
