What is the difference between SSRS Reports and Ax Reports ?
SSRS reports are created in Visual Studio 2008 (for AX 2009) - you need some setup done before hand to utilise this tool, as you create an AX query, or a SQL Store Procedure, then execute this in the Visual Studio Environment. The report design is created within Visual Studio, and when complete you deploy this to a report server and the AOD so that it becomes available.
AX reports, or MorphX reports exist up to 2009, they are dropped in 2012 as SSRS reporting took the lead as a much more robust all round report development environment. MorphX reports are created within AX’s own report builder, which has its uses but is pretty useless in comparison with the superior SSRS reports.
