Difference between Chart of Acct and Main Acct- Ax2012

Hi Friends

What is Chart of Acct for a common man.

What is the difference between COA and Main Acct in Ax 2012.

pls explain with some example.

Thanks

Ravi

In AX2012, COA and Main Accounts structure is introduced for the convenience of sharing the set of account to multiple legal entities.

Assume you have same set of Account numbers that need to be used in three different legal entities. Then Create a new “COA” under which you will define your list of Accounts.

you will link this COA to each company ledger by going to GL>Setup>Ledger - COA.

Main Accounts form is a company specific form where you will see the list of Accounts that are applicable for the Legal entity that you are in(based on the COA specified in Ledger form). with the above case, you will see the same set of Account in your main Accounts form.

Case2: If you have 3 different set of Accounts to be used for 3 Legal entities. You will create 3 COAs and link it to legal entities like LE1- COA1, LE2 - COA2 …

When you login to LE1 and see the Main Accounts form you will be able to see only the Accounts available in the “COA1”

Hope this helps.
