I’m new AX learner and I’m using AX 2009 version. I want to know, What is the difference between ax 2009/ 2012 software & ax retail software??? Do we need to have separate software to work on AX retail or can we work on ax 2009 or 2012 versions?
Do we have AX Retail Virtual demo like we have AX 2009 & 2012 software’s. If so, can you share the link of AX retail software? OR If we can work (AX Retail) on ax 2009/2012, how do we do? do we need to apply any Service Packs or what?
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 are different versions of Microsoft Dynamics AX (Like you have different version of Windows: Windows XP, Windows 7 etc). AX has different types of verticals (verticals are designed to cater specific need of industry ) Currently there are 5 verticals: Manufacturing, Retail, Services, Public Sector, Financial Services.
Yes you have to install retail separately… …In retail you have Retail head quarters and pos. head quarter is to maintain all transactions and pos machines…and come to pos machines Like when you go to bigbazar they use poS machine to make billing…
Thanks Michel. So, on AX 2009 or AX 2012 we need to install this Retail software (or) we have separate Retail software all together. If we can configure Retail on AX 2009/2012 versions then what ever customizations we do (Example: Item setups, discounts, purchase,sales etc) that we be done on ax 2009/2012 platform or we need to setup all these in different format of ax retail ?
I tried to see videos in youtube but unable to find as such. only POS video I’m able to see. If you have any video links of ax retail, can you share it please.
yes in the ax setup u have the option retail,… Just u have to check the option and install the retail…so that retail module will be visible in the ax modules list…yes you can configure the discounts and all…no there are no documents for retail in ax 2012… because it is .net application…through .net business connector it will work in ax …

Can i do the setups as you said “Just u have to check the option and install the retail…so that retail module will be visible in the ax modules list” … Any possibility to do it for Virtual software (VMware player)? I mean can we setup so that i can use retail applications as well like we have GL,AP,AR,Inventory,Production etc modules? are you working as a Retail functional consultant anywhere ? Please let me know.
