D365 Upgrade Process Timer - Does an Upgrade Dry-Run start the actual upgrade process

Hello and thanks for responding.

Does an D365 Upgrade Dry-Run using LCS start the actual upgrade process with licensing and pricing changes?

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
what exactly do you mean by “Upgrade Dry-Run using LCS”?
Is it about D365 Finance and Operations or another D365 application?

Thank you for responding.

I want to do an actual upgrade process from AX 2012 R3 CU13 through LCS to a TEST environment, but I am unclear whether or not Microsoft considers this an Upgrade therefore changing licensing and subscription charges.

Thanks

Jeff

An upgrade to D365FO, right?
Upgrade is done in a development environment, not in a test environment.
You don’t need a production license until you deploy a production environment. I’m not sure, though, what you mean by changing licensing.

Hi Martin,
Thank you for your response.
Yes, upgrade to D365FO.
My question concerning changing licensing was to determine: 1) if new licensing is required for an upgrade to a D365 FO development environment. 2) is current AX 2012 R3 licensing sufficient to satisfy D365 FO development environment upgrade.

Again, Thank you for your response.

Jeff

AX 2012 license won’t help you - you need a D365FO subscription.
I’m sorry, but I don’t remember the process in detail. Hopefully somebody else went through it recently.
