Creating a new class in dynamics AX

Hi all - does anyone know how to create a new class on dynamics Ax. When I try within AOT and select the Class item, right hand mouse click and create new class - nothing happens, no errors occur. I understand class1 should be created by default but I get nothing even after a refresh.

Is there development permissions anywhere that need to be set. At the moment I am an administrator of the system.

look forward to hearing from you.

Have you set the developer license in your Ax Configuration ?

Pradhiba

Hi Pradhiba,

I m not so sure abt that, but please tell me that , if I dont have developer license, Will Axapta allow me to access AOT??

I thinks, AOT will be disabled without developers license.

Hi Manish, we can certainly access AOT without the developers licence and can create menu items and reports etc but are not able to create a class.

I am correct is saying the developers licence is an additional cost?

thanks

Tony

Hi Manish,

How are you ? Sorry, i was very tied up with development work for one of the axapta projects we are running.

Do you still face this problem? For Ax 4.0 you can set the development license code at the Microsoft Dynamics AX Configuration Utility, if you dont do it here, you will be asked for the code when ur logging to Ax4.0. Does your license cover development access?

Hi Pradhiba and Tony, I m fine and thanks for reply.

Please make me correct, as far as I know, when we first install Axapta, without providing license, we wont be able to access AOT.

License is still categorised in 4 types.

  1. Basic

  2. Morphx

  3. Web Morphx

  4. X++

for development at classes level, you should hav X++ license.

From basic license, we can access AOT’s reports, menuitems etc.

From Morphx, we can access Forms , data dictionary etc,

Web Morphx enables us to access web related objects.

So to create a class, we should have X++ developer license.

Am I right??[8-)]

Hi Manish,

Your statements are correct. In order to gain access to classes u need the X++ license key.
