Copying a company that has integrations and customizations

I need to create a test company by copying our live company in the production database. I will not be creating a new database; I just planned to use the “Copy” function in NAV’s IT Administration page.

We have some customizations and we have integrations with Salesforce and AvaTax. I need the company copy to have all the same features that are in the code extension BUT it should not attempt to connect to either AvaTax or Salesforce. I looked at the setups for both AvaTax and Salesforce and they are both connecting to a specific Company Name in the database. Since the test company will have a different name, I would not think there should be a problem. Is there something I should be concerned about in making a copy of the production company in this environment?

Hi @Jennifer_Adams,

I don’t think anyone except the creator of these extensions (or C/AL code: BC14 can work with extensions, but the code can be modified using C/AL), can tell you what to do in this case.

I recommend you contact the creator and ask him/her your question.

In such cases best option is to look on documentation and setups in Dynamics 365 BC related to that interface also look on job Job Queue Entries for records related to SalesForce and AVATAX. Hope that this will help.
