I have a raw material part that is physically 200 inches long and is stored in D365 as inches (not as each or per unit). I cut this into varying lengths from 12" to 120".
If I am making five 95" pieces, I would cut two of my raw material pieces into four 95" pieces, and scrap the two remaining 10" pieces. I would then cut a third piece into one 95" piece, leaving me with 105" of the raw material. Due to storage and common sizing, I then want to cut the remaining 105" piece down to 75" and scrap the other 30".
Does anyone know how I can set this up? I think using a formula with a coproduct and byproduct may work, but I am not sure how to account for the quantity of finished goods I need changing the amount of coproducts I can make. For instance, I cannot make any 75" pieces if the original order is for 6 instead of 5. Another example is if the order is for 120" pieces, then I can make one 75" piece for every single 120" piece I make.
