BOM - Configuration Group, Configuration Route/ Rules

Hi,

May i know what kind of scenarios I can utilize the configuration group, configuration route/ rule? What is the benefits?

At a base level it enables you to have a single item with “options” and a flat BOM rather than multiple BOM Versions. This means if an item is RED, BLUE or BLACK you can define the config dimension and have a BOM linked to different componenets for each colour, then when you manufacture it only picks the appropriate colour. The route and rules also enable different production routes based upon the configuration.
