World,
I am currently using AX 2009:
- A certain item has 2 BOM, I want to activate both of them but the system won’t allow the activation.
Infolog: The specified date interval overlaps the date interval of route version Route for Item ABC.
Where can I set-up this date interval so that it won’t overlap and I can activate both BOM?
- I am trying to practice AX Production and when I update it, the system would prompt me:
Production - Estimation>Production - BOM calculation>Calculating route>Calculating route>Cost category has not been specified.
I am creating multi-bom passing through different routes and work center.
Where can I fix this problem? Do I need to tick something in the BOM set-up?
Thank you so much for taking time in reading my queries. I would appreciate any help for this.

- You can not have more than one active BOM for a specific time period. This period is given on BOM versions as "from date " & “to date”.If you give different periods for two BOM versions which dont overlap each other then it will be posible.
2.I think you have not specified the cost category in route >operationl ine> >set up tab.Cost category gives you cost per unit without which sysyem can not estimate your production order.
Thank you Sanax for the help. AX now works but how can I set-up working time? is it in the set-up and run time?
If the scenario looks like this:
Process Time Machines min/day estimated output/8hours
Painting time 10.51 1 420 40
Laser 6.30 1 450 58
Spot 20.97 2 450 43
Welding 25.90 3 450 52
Packaging 6.30 1 420 40
Where will I input these data? done with the routes and work centers. Just don’t know where to insert these values [*-)]
Hope you could extend more of your help.
Thanks again.

The BOM active flag means there can only be one default, you can change this of course on the production and sales orders if it is not date or quantity controlled. The date is in the BOM header.
The scenario depends upon how you want to define the routine. The “Process” will be an operation. Your “Machines” will be work centres within work centre groups. Then in the routing you would define the run time if the times you have defined are per 1 output. Alternatively if you have set your work centres up to be capacity based you will already have told it that the output per hour is the estimated output divided by 8.
You need to look at the setup options of the work centres and decide on an approach, but in answer to your question these values are set on the route - where and how depends upon how you want to configure it. The cost category message shows you have not configured the route correctly, because this is also resolved by entering it at the routing level.
Thanks for the help.
I encountered a challenge again. When I update the production status to START, the system says,
“Production - Job scheduling>Requirement calculation of production PRD_00000591>Working time Standard has not been specified for 2/9/2011”
Where can I fix this problem?
Thank you so much!
Best regards,
JR
It says that the working times for the selected date were not defined - in the calendar attached to the work centers/groups.
Update the working times from Work center groups → working times → compose working times…
And then keep pulling on this very long piece of string [:D]
Thank you for the help. A lot of things to fix. I’m learning and hope I can learn more. Just need to be patient enough with the InfologS[:)]
