AX 2012 - Item Deletion (Error Message: Items cannot be deleted while dependent Inventory transactions exist. Delete dependent Inventory transactions and try again.)

Hi,

I am testing and checking the condition at when system allows item deletion.

As per testing, for AX 2012, Item is NOT allowed to delete if exist anyone of the followings:

· on hand inventory

· dependent inventory transactions ???

· BOMs

· Journal lines

What is the definition of dependent inventory transactions?

If i try to delete this item, the error message prompt:

“Items cannot be deleted while dependent Inventory transactions exist. Delete dependent Inventory transactions and try again.”

Dependent inventory transactions = inventory transactions?

sales order, transfer order, purchase order, production order, etc.

Basically you are defining the item in the supply/demand chain, so you cannot delete it.

Does this mean for example only open purchase orders, or any purchase order against that item (open or otherwise)?
