AlwaysOn High Availability Groups on SQL with NAV 2016

I have planned to do setup AlwaysOn High Availability Groups for SQL with primary & one secondary.

My question is how to connect with Microsoft Navision Application & during failover how connection will get changed to connect with secondary db as primary.

Hi Sha Nas,

I moved your question from the generic Dynamics 365 forum into the BC/NAV technical forum.

I don’t have an answer for you here, but I do know that it would help to know which version of NAV and SQL your question is about. A lot has happened since Dynamics NAV was called Microsoft Navision. “Microsoft Business Solutions - Navision” was rebranded to “Microsoft Dynamics NAV” in 2006. Thank You .

I am using NAV 2016 and SQL Server 2016 Enterprises

Hello

SQL AlwaysOn is a SQL configuration issue and has nothing to do with Dynamics NAV 201X. If ANY of the three connection “strings” (IP-Address/DNS Name, SQL-servername or Databasename changes during a Failover and AlwaysOn kicks in, then The NAV Servicetier ofcourse will fail.

If the configuration is done “right” - for Dynamics NAV then it works quite fine. I have though experienced that I had to restart the servicetier manually.
