Is there any Open Source project which offers some of the BizTalk functionalities (mainly in the area of Data Replication across a WAN) or a middleware that would be cheaper than BizTalk
We currently have a Native 3.60 that needs to exhange data with a wide range of other systems (ie: a B2B Website)
Currently I’m aware of 3 other options which seems cheaper than Biztalk :
1 - Landsteinar Data Director
2 - Data Back Bone’s Replicator
3 - SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) functionalities in Microsoft SQL 2005
Could you recommend me any product that’s robust & reliable for data replication ? and yet cheaper than Biztalk
Using Navision Dataports + Navision built-in scheduler + a script for HTTP/FTP for handling the upload/download is not a viable option for me [:)]
Data Back bone is a solid product, and been around for years. (It was originally available for Navision on DOS), so its a good bet. Not sure but I always thought Landsteiner Data Director was build on Data Backbone, but that may have been some earlier version back in the Lotus Notes days. Either way, Landsteiner have done great work with this, and it should be fine.
Personally I like DTS or SSIS, but as per your last comment, it really does mean building your own scheduler.
Oh and welcome back by the way, your absence has been noticable [H]
I thought (maybe wrongly) that SSIS was able to provide data replication over a WAN (Wide Area Network)
Can’t you specify to SSIS the protocol (FTP/FTPS - HTTP/HTTPS) for uploading & downloading data ?
David : Thank you for the nice words, unfortunaly I can’t be as active on the forums as I used to be (when I was single!), a wife & a baby boy are now keeping me away from the keyboard [:)]
