Hi All, I am new to the AX product and learning as much as I can. With the complexity comes questions when the setup is not correct…in this case I believe that it is. When I am trying to post a Sales Order, I receive the following error “Account number for transaction type Sales order revenue does not exist”. I have checked the posting setups and the Sales Order revenue account is populated.
I have read that it is possible that the Item Dimension could cause this, but I do not know how to check or fix this. I am not even sure if this is the issue. Any help with this would be much appreciated. I should mention that this is for AX 2012
Does the sales line contain more than one item? The revenue is driven by item group and can be tied to customer group as well.
Go to sales, setup, customer group. Go to the customer group of the customer on the sales order. Select the Setup Button and Stock Posting. Check Revenue on the left to show you the item group revenue posting for the customer group. My guess is your item group is not listed against the customer group rather than the item group being specified and the revenue account being blank, but this is possible as well.
Thanks for your reply Adam, good suggestion, but the item Grp is listed against the Cust Grp. and the revenue account is populated. Any other thoughts?
If you’ve eliminated setup issues relating to the Item’s configuration then the next step is to check for incomplete or missing configuration of the Chart of Accounts.
Navigate to: General Ledger > Setup > Chart of Accounts > Configure Account Structures and identify where the Sales Order Revenue Account is defined on this form. More likely than not, you will find that this GL account has not been included in any of the listed account structures. Note that this form is a new feature in AX2012 so it’s possible that the configuration hasn’t been completed.
What appears to be hapenning is that Dynamics AX2012 correctly identifies which Revenue Account to use for posting the Sales Invoice but cannot find an appropriate entry on the account structures form for this ledger account. In my opinion, the error message could do with being expanded so that users would be able to pin down the root cause.
