ABC Classification report

Hello,

On the ABC Classification report under Inventory module, there are two field that shows A or B or C for the item that is Current and Calculated.

I am not sure the what are the differences between them since I have seen the values under these two field does not always match.

By looking at the report design, I can say the data field in the Current field is taged as OldValue and the data field for the Calculated is tagged as Value.

Any explanation is greatly appreaciated.

Thanks,

The current value is the value currently on the item card.

The calculated value is the value the system now should be attributed to the item. So what could have been an A last year maybe a B this year - pareto analysis is a moving beast by its very nature.

Thanks Adam for your explanation!

So, as a follow up question- if an item “X” has Current Value as ‘B’ and the Calculated value as ‘A’, then how should it be interpreted? Should the item “X” be treated as A item in this case since its system calculated value is ‘A’? If so, why AX is saying it B as current value?

What is your thought on this?

Regards,

In Inventory Management–> Periodic → ABC classification you can revise your classification at period end. and after that if you run this report then you will get current value and calculated value same. because calculated value will replace current value. this is for inventory management by system, where system will manage this classification.
