why exported license file is different from original

Hi all,

my NAV 2009 SP1 is installed in SQL 2005 Express.

today I am trying to export the license, but when I import/upload the license. first the license number changed, second there a lot of different granule disappear after imported/uploaded. For example, 7200.

When I use notepad to open the license, a lot of granule disappeared too, such as 7200.

Did anyone experience the same problem? How do I solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Kit

That doesn’t make sense. Not to be obvious, but you 100% sure you uploaded the correct license to the database? Double and triple checked yourself? You did Upload and not Change or Import since you are on SQL?

I only have one license file in my company. I am trying to export this license from production server to file and import to my UAT server.

after imported/uploaded, I found the list of granule is less than what the production server had.

Then I use notepad file to read the license file. the list of granule is also less than that in production server.

Yes, it is weird. I don’t have clue at all as well. Hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance.

Its weird, i tried it and seems to be OK.

Why don’t you try to copy the license file from you production server’s C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Classic\fin.flf and try.

Which one, Import or Upload? They are two different actions that do two very different things. Someone probably did an import a long time ago, which puts the license into the client installation folder. For SQL Server this is not where NAV looks for licenses, so it’s basically useless to have it there. They realized that the license was not available for everyone, so they uploaded it, which puts it into SQL Server. Now you are doing an export, which copies the license from the NAV client folder to another destination, and you are finding that it is probably an older license.

On SQL Server you can’t really export the existing license. Someone at your company should have the ‘official’ license file stored in a safe place. If nobody does, then ask your NAV partner for a new copy, they will be happy to provide one for you.

Wow DenSter, Thanks buddy i did’nt knew this.
