Want to learn NAV development.

Hi All,

I have experience in application development using multiple platforms and have experience in SQL Server DBA/Dev as well. I am interested and have decided to learn Microsoft NAV technical development and continue my career with that. However I am struggling to get a take off. I readlly need your help here. I googled a lot but am not getting proper info on my requirements.

  1. I want to install Microsoft NAV in my persinal laptop. Where can I get the setup.?

  2. Will I be able to open the source code and check coding ?. Can I add my own code to that ?

I understand that I can’t achieve it overnight and it will take it’s own time. But I am determined, just need your guidance.

Welcome to DUG!!!

For learning Navision development I would suggest read the Introduction to C/AL and Application designer guide .You can find lot of videos ,How to’s on site for learning .You can take help of MSDN for understanding the functions used in NAV.

You can find the setup in this side download Section

With Demo License you can not open source code or alter it . You need to have to development license for developing or modifying the program.

Thank you so much. Yes, I have been on this since few weeks and have downloaded few materials as well.

Getting familiar with C/AL programming and it’s going well.

And I am stuck on the development licence. How do I get it for my learning purpose. ? Can someone help me on that ?

I beleive the cronus licence does allow some customization . Or get some training from an MS training provider there are Training Courses with training licenses as well that also allow some changes to be made.
