Upgrade MBS from 3.01b to 3.70b

Hello fellow navisionists , I am trying to update navision from 3.01b to 3.70b. I ran into surprisingly few errors and I have database 3.70 by now. [:)] The only problems I had were some tables (only a few but important ones). Navision 3.70 couldn’t import these tables. The most important ones were the tables 115 and 125. These are the Credit Memo Lines, both Sale and Purchase. I noticed that there is a field called “50.005.399 Posting Date” being part of the addon packet of 3.01b. But in spite of using the Addon370SP1 database I dont have this field in the 3.70 table. Because it’s in the 50.000.000 range I can’t create it neather. In what modules or addon can i find a table containing this field? Or is the buggy merging function the answer? Thanks in Advance! Greeting from Cologne Marc

Hi Marc, congrats on your project! We also have 3.01 (A) and I was just curious how many hours you’ve spent on the project. Does your db has a lot of customizations? Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Dennis, there were about 25 changed tables and as much other objects in the 3.01b database, size: 1.3GB. Updating the 3.70 objects with customizations took me about 12 hours. Converting the data about 4 hours and fixing errors in the update process again 4 hours, that’s about 20 hours. Beware of both “Cr. Memo Lines” tables, they were nasty. Greeting from Cologne Marc Deitermann p.s.: …but I still think updating is a royal pain in the ass. [B)]

Twenty hours doesn’t sound too bad. I’m going to be doing a similar upgrade in 2004 and I bet it takes way longer than that to do. Lots of customizations. Any other words of wisdom?

Thanks for the warning about the credit memo lines. We will also undertake a project to upgrade from 3.10a to 3.7 or whatever is available in 2004… We have customized most of the warehouse and sales granules with business specific logic… Any other feed back regarding to the upgrade to 3.7 would be welcome… Robert [:D]

Hey everybody, we were planning to upgrade our database from DE2.5 to release 3.7 this weekend. But due to other important tasks this was cancelled and moved to next year. Did you upgrade from a native database ? Or do you use the SQL-version ?
