Upgrade intallation from 3.60 to 3.70

I am currently in the process of upgrading our clients from 3.60 to 3.70 and having a slight problem with the installation. When you select to do a typical upgrade during the setup process, the installation will stop with the following error. Error 1920. Service MSSQLSERVER(MSSQLSERVER) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. After I abort the process and retry the installation, it will work. We are running Windows 2000 Professional and logging on to the workstation as system administrator (Both network and workstation). Does anyone know what may be causing this problem? Tom

With 3.70 MBS has started to ship MSDE (Desktop Edition of SQL Server). Choose a custom install and don’t install MSDE and it should work just fine

Thanks Lars. I tried it out and it works perfectly.
