Upgrade from AX 2012 FP To AX 2012 R2

Hi all,

Greetings, kindly i face issue in first step in upgrade to connect with exist database to import R2 models ,indeed before this I escaped some step in upgrade code

First step :-
As in-place Technet document mention removed all model contents on “Upgrade” i removed it , and first step in upgrade code required import model for upgrade and i do not have model to import , or i do not know what is required in this steps?.

Second step:-
I escaped also upload license, is it important upload it again? i am already have a valid license on current AX 2012 FP instance.

i do not know is it the reason in failure the step or not and in below the setup log file

There are many other steps in in-place upgrade that you didn’t mention. In this particular case, it seems that you haven’t installed the old AOS.

No , I keep the old AOS the main problem i think in code upgrade list , and I did all required steps in it but can you tell me how i can run it again ???

Read the section of in-place upgrade instructions that begins with “If you fail to remove the old AOS manually prior to installing the new Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 AOS, you may encounter multiple errors in subsequent steps. You can return the system to a stable condition in either of two ways”.

So what are you doing? I’m not aware of any steps in “Before you begin” that would involve R2 installer, but that’s what threw the error. Therefore you’re already in the upgrade process regardless of whether you wanted to be or whether you’re aware of that.

I am in preparing the database for AX 2012 R2 and make it connected on exist database , but i think the problem because of i avoid upload license for AX 2012 R2 through code upgrade checklist , that it is and my question is How about if i upload it through AX 2012 FP , I would appreciate your fast reply and consideration, thanks.

Yes, you’re installing R2 and getting into troubles because the FP AOS configuration doesn’t know anything about the separate model store database introduced in R2 (at least that’s my theory of what’s happening). You should use one of the solutions described on Technet.

Hi ,

the problem was two main issues.

1- upload license for AX 2012 R2 in Code upgrade checklist step.

2- some customization in USR layer contents on configuration & security keys.

once i delete USR layer everything is going well.
